Dr. Nitzan Shahar
I am a clinical psychologist, expert in the domain of Computational Psychiatry. I have recently completed three years as a research fellow at the Max-Planck Computational Psychiatry Centre at UCL, UK. In my current work, I am using theory-driven computational models and machine learning methods to search for an integrative description of how neural mechanisms lead to aberrant behavioral phenotypes in mental health disorders. My work specifically addresses decision-making and value-based learning processes and their relationship to inattention, impulsivity and compulsivity symptoms. My overreaching goal is to provide clear and measurable neuro-cognitive models for mental disorders that would allow objective, processes-based clinical diagnosis.
